Best Movies of the 2000's...Not in any order

FREDDY GOT FINGERED
release date: april.20.2001
It comes as a surprise sometimes when a person receives an extra burger in his/her White Castle sack; sometimes the extra slider may even change a person's life.

In the year of 2001, Hollywood released the likes of Blow, Fast and the Furious, Planet of the Apes, and Jurassic Park III. 2001 also saw the release of Tom Green's Freddy got Fingered.

Trying to build off the success of his MTV--well, repeats of his Canadian public access show--the big wigs at 20th Century Fox deemed it necessary to give Tom Green about $20 million to make a movie to be released in late spring or the fall--I guess you can call it cash cow insightfullness. If the the kids like it, the execs will find a way to fund it, right?

On it's release, Freddy was panned by almost every critic who reviewed it...irreverence is suicide. It's jokes too crude and pretty much too stoopid for the elite/average moviegoer.

But if you watch Freddy a few times you may catch on to something: a quality called heart...Freddy could not be marketed--and hollywood hated that hard truth.

Freddy is the one movie--at a time of research and development--that took on one of the best themes imaginable--a theme that had been wildly neglected: the battle of the generations. Baby Boomer vs. X/Y...love vs hate...strength vs. fear...

Freddy was ruined by the system and needs to be seen for what it is: a vehicle of relevance, insightfullness, and heart. Freddy does a wonderful job at presenting a nice picture of these post mod, retrograde, and myopic times. One you don't see from the usual hollywood pro packaged release.
