Movies are pretty enjoyable if you can appreciate the characters. If you do not appreciate the characters, movies can be rather loathsome.

I was watching a movie on TV last week--don't remember the name--and I could not give a fuck about any of the characters; they were pompous and annoying. I can very marginally accept annoyance, but the act of being pompous sickens me.
